      Abstract

Indonesian people's consumption of fish as a source of fat is very low, including tilapia. Tilapia is expensive due to the high cost of standard feed for fish farming. Maggot BSF is proven to be an alternative to replace standard feed for freshwater fish but has not been done in pellet form. This study aims to analyze the growth, proximate content and fatty acid content of tilapia meat fed with BSF maggot and tofu pulp. This research method was carried out by rearing fish for 30 days followed by measurement of fish growth. Further analysis included proximate content, cholesterol, unsaturation and fatty acid profile of fish meat using Gas Chromatography. The results showed that feeding BSF maggot formula and tofu pulp increased fish growth (weight: 102% and length: 33.75%). The proximate content and fatty acid profile of fish given formula feed had better quality among other treatments because it had a high fat content (3.75%), especially unsaturated fatty acids. The conclusion of this study is that BSF maggot feed and tofu pulp can be an alternative to replace standard tilapia feed.
