      Abstract

HTI, as the primary source of roundwood for wood processing industries, require mechanized harvesting systems utilizing equipment capable of achieving high productivity. The time study method is used to determine the basis of the productivity value of the tool while determining the factors that affect the mechanical harvesting of the literature study as well as analyzing the need for the ideal tool to achieve the production target. Riaufiber as a business unit for the construction of HTI by PT RAPP in the Baserah Sector has implemented mechanical harvesting using harvesters and excavator-pontoons. Productivity is measured based on actual and effective time across two compartments with different characteristics. In compartment P024, the actual and effective productivity of the harvester is 12,86 m3/hour and 14,54 m3/hour, while the excavator-pontoon achieves 24,00 m3/hour and 31,94 m3/hour, requiring ideal 5 harvester units and 3 excavator-pontoon unit. In compartment P026, the harvester's actual and effective productivity are 10,56 m3/hour and 12,16 m3/hour, respectively, and the excavator-pontoon's productivity is 18,32 m3/hour and 24,90 m3/hour then ideal requires 6 harvester units and 4 excavator-pontoon units
