      Abstract

Meiofauna are a group of fauna associated with mangroves and serve as bioindicators. This study aims to analyze the meiofauna community structure and its relationship with the physico-chemical characteristics of the natural mangrove ecosystem in Telaga Tujuh, Malacca Strait. Data collection was conducted in August 2022 at three stations. Meiofauna samples were collected using a PVC corer (5 cm diameter, 10 cm height), sieved through graded mesh screens, stained, and identified under a binocular microscope. Temperature, salinity, and sediment pH were measured in situ, while redox potential (Eh), organic carbon (C-Org), total organic matter (TOM), nitrate (NO₃), and phosphate (PO₄) were analyzed in the laboratory. Mangrove density and meiofauna abundance were examined using correspondence analysis. The results identified seven meiofauna phyla, with Platyhelminthes as the dominant group. Rhizophora apiculata correlated with Enoplida and Macrostomida, while Bruguiera gymnorrhiza was associated with Nemertodermatida and Lituolida.
