      Abstract

This study aims to analyze the proton radiation dose distribution at energies ranging from 70-150 MeV on inhomogeneous phantoms enhanced with gold and silver radiosensitizers. The Monte Carlo method using PHITS software was employed to simulate dose distribution and evaluate the impact of different types and concentrations of radiosensitizers on the Percentage Depth Dose (PDD) and Dose Enhancement Ratio (DER). Simulation results reveal that adding radiosensitizers reduces the relative dose absorbed by the tissue, influencing the position and height of the Bragg peak. Gold and silver radiosensitizers respectively shift the Bragg peak to shallower depths with lower maximum doses compared to tissue without radiosensitizers. Varying concentrations of radiosensitizers showed that higher concentrations tend to reduce DER. Silver radiosensitizers demonstrated higher DER values compared to gold at a depth of 3 cm, suggesting greater potential in enhancing tumor sensitivity to proton radiation.
