dc.description.abstractCyathula prostrata, a member of the Amaranthaceae family, has long been used in tropical regions of the world for a variety of diseases, and study has shown that it is beneficial in the treatment of rheumatism, dysentery, wounds, and urethral discharges. Grows in yards, gardens, rice fields and other abandoned land. Traditionally, all parts of the plant are used to treat several diseases such as cough, throat irritation, fever, dysentery, laxative, snake bites, etc. Several studies have also found that methanolic extract of Cyathula prostrata has significantly reduced tumor growth, viability of tumor cells, raising life span as compared with those of EAC control mice. Antimicrobial and phytochemical properties of leaf, bark and root extracts were found.id
