      Abstract

bonylip barb fish has high economic value, but its growth is slow. One solution to accelerate the cultivation period is by adding recombinant growth hormone. The aim of this research is to analyze the effect of administering rElGH hormone through the oral method on the growth rate of bonylip barb fish fry (Osteochilus hasselti) at different stocking densities. This study uses a factorial randomized design with two factors: rElGH usage (0 mg kg-1 feed and 2 mg kg-1 feed) and differences in stocking densities (30, 50, 70 fish L-1), with three replications. The size of the Nilem fry (length 4.43±0.03 cm and weight 0.96±0.03 g) was maintained in aquariums measuring 100 x 50 x 50 cm with a water depth of 20 cm. The rearing period was 30 days, using commercial feed with 31-33% protein content. rElGH was administered orally through feeding at satiation, twice daily (08.00 and 16.00 WIB). The treated feed (rElGH) was given for the first seven days, followed by feed without rElGH. The R30 treatment (stocking density of 30 fish L-1 with rElGH administration) showed the best growth performance results, with a feed conversion ratio (FCR) of 1.01, specific growth rate (SGR) of 4.8% day-1, daily growth rate (DGR) of 0.113 g day-1, survival rate (SR) of 98,89%, absolute length growth (ALG) of 1.75 cm, absolute weight growth (AWG) of 3.40 g, while the best biomass increase was observed in the R70 treatment (stocking density of 70 fish L-1 with rElGH administration) at 3.56±0.09 g.
