dc.description.abstract | A company's sustainability is highly dependent on the priority of Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) because without healthy workers and a safe workplace, there will be environmental and economic losses for the company and workers. Research on forest worker ergonomics is still limited, while physical workloads and accident rates remain high. The role of leaders in improving OHS management and understanding worker risk perceptions is crucial, considering that unsafe behavior from company actors is often the cause of accidents. This study aims to identify risk perceptions and occupational safety climate in the Bogor Forest Management Unit (FMU), West Java-Banten Regional Division, Perhutani. The selection of this FMU unit is considered to represent the conditions of other FMUs because of the uniform organizational structure, workforce qualifications, technology, and harvesting system. Workers and managers consider that occupational risks only cause a few deaths, have a direct effect, and have long been
known based on science. Improving risk perception requires a dynamic approach through periodic risk analysis, training, and effective communication. The safety climate in all dimensions still needs improvement, especially in dimension 5, which
shows a need for more worker priority for safety. Improvement strategies can be carried out by increasing managerial understanding of risk perception and safety climate dimensions.
