      Abstract

The oil palm plant (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is an annual plant that has a growth and development cycle of 25-30 years. This research aims to analyze and compare the dynamics of evapotranspiration in oil palm plants between two age groups: young plants (2 years) and mature plants (19 years). The aerodynamic method is used to calculate the evapotranspiration rate by considering variables such as air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and solar radiation. The research results show that mature oil palm plants have higher evapotranspiration values compared to young plants. The average evapotranspiration of adult plants is 0.23 mm/hour while that of young plants is 0.22 mm/hour. This difference is caused by variations in canopy structure and surface roughness which affect atmospheric stability. The t-test shows a p-value of 0.00 < 0.05, meaning that there is a statistically significant difference indicating that mature oil palm plants are more sensitive to changes in climate conditions compared to young plants.
