      Abstract

Efforts to increase production can be done by intensive cultivation by determining the optimal stocking density using the biofloc system. Biofloc technology converts nitrogen from the metabolic waste of organisms and feed waste into heterotrophic microbial biomass by adding organic carbon to produce extracellular compounds that can increase the immune response. This study aims to analyze the immune response of whiteleg shrimp L. vannamei maintained with different stocking densities in the biofloc system. This research used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of eight treatments with three replications each. White vaname shrimp with an average weight of 0,48 ± 0,04 g were stocked in jars (water volume 2,5 L) at a density of 4, 8, 12 and 16 L-1. White vaname shrimp were reared for seven days in a biofloc system and without biofloc as a control. Vaname shrimp are given commercial feed with a protein content of 40%. The frequency of feeding is carried out 4 times a day at 08.00, 12.00, 16.00 and 20.00 WIB using a restricted feeding rate (FR) of 10%. The parameters measured were total haemocyte count (THC), phagocytic activity, respiratory burst (RB), phenoloxydase activity, abundance of bacteria in the water and shrimp body, and survival. The application of the biofloc system can increase the immune response of vaname shrimp, reduce the presumptive abundance of vibrio count in the rearing water and shrimp bodies, and increase the survival rate of vaname shrimp to the highest stocking density (16 L-1).
