      Analisis Pertumbuhan Siklon Tropis Seroja Menggunakan Vortisitas Potensial

      Abstract
      Penelitian ini menganalisis pertumbuhan Siklon Tropis Seroja yang terjadi pada 3-12 April 2021 di wilayah Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) hingga perairan barat Australia. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan data kecepatan angin, suhu permukaan laut, serta vortisitas potensial. Analisis dan visualisasi data dilakukan menggunakan perangkat lunak GrADS, ArcGIS, dan Visual Studio Code. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pada saat pertumbuhan Siklon Seroja, suhu permukaan laut di wilayah pertumbuhannya mencapai 31°C, lebih tinggi dari ambang batas pembentukan siklon tropis yaitu 26,5°C. Anomali suhu permukaan laut positif (hingga 2°C lebih tinggi dari rata-rata hariannya) dapat mendukung pertumbuhan dan intensifikasi siklon. Rata-rata kecepatan angin Siklon Seroja meningkat dari 8 m/s pada fase awal tropical depression, menjadi 36 m/s pada puncaknya saat mencapai kategori typhoon. Vortisitas potensial negatif pada tekanan 500 hPa juga menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan, dari -1 × 10-6 K m2/s/kg pada kondisi awal pertumbuhan, menjadi -8 × 10-6 K m2/s/kg pada 9 April 2021, yang menunjukkan adanya intensifikasi siklon yang kuat. Interaksi antara konvergensi di lapisan bawah (950 hPa) dan divergensi di lapisan atas (200 hPa) menciptakan kondisi ideal untuk penguatan sistem siklonik.
       
      This study analyzes the development of Tropical Cyclone Seroja, which occurred from April 3 to 12, 2021, in the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) region, extending to the western waters of Australia. The research utilizes wind speed, sea surface temperature, and potential vorticity data. Data analysis and visualization were carried out using GrADS, ArcGIS, and Visual Studio Code software. The results indicate that during Cyclone Seroja's development, the sea surface temperature in the affected region reached 31°C, exceeding the tropical cyclone formation threshold of 26,5°C. Positive sea surface temperature anomalies, up to 2°C above the daily average, contributed to the cyclone's growth and intensification. Cyclone Seroja's average wind speed increased from 8 m/s during the tropical depression phase to 36 m/s at its peak, when it reached typhoon status. The negative potential vorticity at 500 hPa also significantly increased, from -1 × 10-6 K m2/s/kg during its initial growth phase to -8 × 10-6 K m2/s/kg on April 9, 2021, indicating strong cyclonic intensification. The interaction between lower-level convergence at 950 hPa and upper-level divergence at 200 hPa created optimal conditions for the cyclone's intensification.
