      Abstract

Erosion poses a significant challenge in agricultural land, leading to decreased soil productivity and water body sedimentation, which is a concern at PT Great Giant Pineapple. Predicting erosion is essential for determining prevention methods and soil management systems. Our study aimed to predict erosion using the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) method and to validate it with field measurement results. The research was conducted at PT Great Giant Pineapple, Central Lampung, Plantation Ground 1, on pineapple plots 76, 92, and 91, with the respective ages of the pineapple crops on each plot being 7, 10, and 13 months. Erosion prediction parameters were observed with three replications on each plot for approximately three months and compared with the erosion values from field observations. The highest erosion occurred in the 7-month-old pineapple plot, replication 3, with an average erosion value of 14.32 tons/ha/year, and the lowest erosion occurred in the 13-month-old pineapple plot, replication 2, with 0.13 tons/ha/year. The predicted values and observation results showed differences due to the limitations of the USLE method and various factors such as damage to erosion traps, sediment retention by soil ridges, and the exclusion of erosion during soil management stages.
