      Abstract

Waterbirds are bioindicators that live in wetlands in the coastal area of Torosiaje Village, Pohuwato Regency, Gorontalo Province, which has experienced a conversion of wetlands. This study aims to determine the species composition, analyze the diversity, evenness, and dominance of waterbirds and the relationship between the behavior of the waterbird community to their activity time and habitat. Waterbird data collection was carried out using the Point Count method at each station route determined by Purposive Sampling. The study successfully identified 14 bird species including migratory, non-migratory, near-threatened, and least-concern species. The diversity, evenness, and dominance index values indicate a good and stable condition of the waterbird community. The results of the Principal Component Analysis visualization of the relationship between behavior to activity time and habitat provide a range of information coverage of 86.28%. Marine habitats are the preference of waterbirds as a place to rest, be alert, attack, groom, and move. Estuary and pond habitats are the preference of waterbirds as places to find food.
