      Abstract

This study used Monte Carlo simulation to compare isodose curves and dose volume histograms on inhomogeneous phantoms irradiated with Cobalt-60. The radioactive source was attached to polyethylene. The size of the phantom was 10 × 10 × 10 cm3 . This study used 2 cm × 2 cm × 3 mm and 2 cm × 2 cm × 5 mm targets. The distance between the simulated target and the radioactive source was 0 and 3 mm. The results show a decrease in the dose to the target as the depth increases (5 mm, 7 mm, 10 mm) due to radiation attenuation. Another influencing factor is the target density, where higher-density targets absorb more radiation. Brachytherapy is effective for shallow targets (5-7 mm) with dose distribution reaching 20%-40% of the maximum dose. However, its effectiveness decreases in deeper targets (>10 mm)
