      Abstract

This study explores the potential of mangium bark extract (Acacia mangium Willd.) as a natural dye for batik mori cloth. Mangium bark extraction using Ultrasonic-assisted extraction (UAE) method at 60 ? for 45 min produced the largest yield (11.12%). Mangium bark nano-extracts (NE) measuring 361.9 nm were obtained using an ultrasonic stirrer. Chemical compound composition analysis using LC-MS/MS showed the presence of 27 compounds dominated by phenolic group (13.05%). NE-FT (tunjung mordant) dyed mori fabrics were darker than NE-FK (chitosan mordant). SEM analysis shows the morphology of the fabric with the addition of mordant has a rougher surface. Color fastness in washing resulted in a score in the good category. Tests on dry rubbing showed better category results than wet rubbing. Testing using xenon light produces a value in the poor category. Antibacterial activity testing of NE-FK mori fabric showed higher inhibition against S. aureus and S. epidermidis. The results of this study indicate the potential of NE to improve dyeing quality and add functionality as an antibacterial agent.
