dc.description.abstractProduksi dan mutu benih sorgum dipengaruhi oleh faktor lingkungan selama perkembangan malai. Salah satu upaya dalam meningkatkan produksi dan mutu benih sorgum yaitu dengan melakukan penyungkupan pada malai. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh jenis bahan sungkup malai terhadap produksi dan mutu benih sorgum. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan November 2023 sampai Mei 2024 di Kebun Percobaan Leuwikopo dan Laboratorium Penyimpanan dan Pengujian Mutu Benih, Institut Pertanian Bogor. Percobaan disusun berdasarkan rancangan kelompok lengkap teracak satu faktor yaitu jenis bahan sungkup (plastik, karung, dan jaring) menggunakan benih sorgum varietas Kawali. Jarak tanam yang digunakan yaitu 75 cm × 40 cm. Penggunaan jenis bahan sungkup jaring menghasilkan komponen produksi jumlah benih per malai yang nyata lebih banyak dibandingkan bahan sungkup plastik dan karung dengan rata-rata 3063 butir. Penggunaan jenis bahan sungkup plastik mampu menghasilkan benih dengan viabilitas dan vigor yang nyata paling tinggi pada tolok ukur daya berkecambah sebesar 71,8% dan indeks vigor sebesar 38,5%.
dc.description.abstractSorghum seed production and quality are influenced by environmental factors during panicle development. One of the efforts to increase the production and quality of sorghum seeds is by covering the panicles. This study aims to analyze the effect of the type of panicle bag material on the production and quality of sorghum seeds. This research was conducted from November 2023 to May 2024 at the Leuwikopo Experimental Field and the Seed Quality Storage and Testing Laboratory, IPB University. The experiment was arranged based on a randomized complete block design with one factor, the type of panicle bag material (plastic, sack, and net) using the Kawali variety sorghum seeds. The plant spacing used was 75 cm × 40 cm. The use of net material in sorghum panicles produced significantly higher production components of the number of seeds per panicle compared to plastic and sack materials with an average of 3063 seeds. The use of plastic material was able to produce seeds with the highest viability and vigor in the benchmarks of germination percentage (71,8%) and vigor index (38,5%).
