      Abstract

Total Organic Matter (TOM) in pacific white shrimp ponds can lead to algal blooms and harmful anoxic conditions. This final project analyzes the relationship between TOM and plankton abundance with three treatments at PT Bagja Barokah Sarerea: pond A1 (probiotic A, dolomite lime, no feed additive, 972 m²), pond A2 (probiotic B, calcium hydroxide, 1% feed additive, 784 m²), and pond A3 (probiotic B, calcium hydroxide, 2% feed additive, 1200 m²). Water quality parameters and plankton abundance were analyzed using Pearson correlation and linear regression. The results show that TOM increases plankton abundance, while salinity decreases plankton abundance across all ponds (p<0,01). Temperature (p<0,05) and light intensity (p<0,01) increase plankton abundance in pond A2. Nitrite enhances plankton abundance in pond A3 (p<0,01), whereas nitrate increases plankton abundance in pond A1 (p<0,01). Plankton composition is dominated by Chlorophyta, Bacillariophyta, and Cyanobacteria with low diversity. TOM affects plankton abundance but is influenced by environmental factors such as nitrite, nitrate, salinity, and temperature.
