HUBUNGAN MOTIVASI JURNALIS DENGAN PRAKTIK JURNALISME WARGA (Kasus: Kompasiana.com)

Abstract

Ketersediaan platform online seperti Kompasiana telah mendorong perkembangan pesat jurnalisme warga. Meskipun dianggap dapat mengakomodasi opini publik secara signifikan, penting untuk memahami motivasi di balik aktivitas jurnalisme warga untuk menilai sejauh mana mereka tetap netral dan memperhatikan kepentingan masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara motivasi dan karakteristik dengan praktik jurnalisme warga di Kompasiana, serta karakteristik jurnalis warga yang mempengaruhi motivasi mereka. Teori Uses And Gratifications digunakan untuk memahami kepuasan, motivasi, dan praktik jurnalisme warga. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei dengan instrumen kuesioner melalui google form yang disebarkan kepada 100 jurnalis warga Kompasiana. Bersamaan dengan pengumpulan data kualitatif melalui analisis isi kuantitatif dan wawancara mendalam. Teknik pemilihan responden dilakukan melalui voluntary sampling. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara motivasi dan praktik jurnalisme warga di Kompasiana, selain itu terdapat hubungan lainnya yang ditemukan dalam karakteristik jurnalis warga.

The availability of online platforms such as Kompasiana has driven the rapid development of citizen journalism. While it is considered capable of significantly accommodating public opinion, it is crucial to understand the motivations behind citizen journalism activities to assess the extent to which they remain neutral and consider the public interest. This research aims to analyze the relationship between motivation and characteristics with the practice of citizen journalism on Kompasiana, as well as the characteristics of citizen journalists that influence their motivation. The Uses and Gratifications Theory is used to understand the satisfaction, motivation, and practice of citizen journalism. This study employs a survey method with a questionnaire instrument distributed through Google Forms to 100 citizen journalists of Kompasiana, alongside qualitative data collection through quantitative content analysis and in-depth interviews. The respondent selection technique is conducted through voluntary sampling. The results of this study show a significant relationship between motivation and the practice of citizen journalism on Kompasiana, and other relationships are found within the characteristics of citizen journalists.
