      Abstract

East Belitung is located at the crossroads that connects the northern and western regions of Indonesia with the eastern region. This situation made Momparang Waters, in East Belitung, a major trade route in the past. The discovery of site containing various sunken shipwrecked objects (BMKT) emphasizes the importance of protecting the Momparang Waters. Despite being designated as a Marine Tourism Park by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, protection of the BMKT is considered inadequate. To identify conservation areas that are effective in protecting BMKTs, a simulated annealing method was used through Marxan software. The analysis considered important marine habitats and economic factors within the study area. SPOT 6 satellite imagery was used with an object based image analysis method to identify benthic and mangrove habitats. The results of the study were divided into three scenarios for the protection of marine habitats and BMKT. The scenario that set a protection target of 50% for coastal ecosystems and 100% for BMKT showed the highest results in terms of protection
