      Potensi Karbon Aktif dari Pelepah Pohon Salak (Salacca zalacca) sebagai Adsorben Ion Logam Kromium (VI)

      Abstract
      Pelepah pohon salak menjadi salah satu bagian yang belum banyak dimanfaatkan yang dapat digunakan sebagai bahan pembuat karbon aktif untuk menjerap ion logam Cr(VI). Karakterisasi kualitas karbon aktif dilakukan berdasarkan (SNI) 06-3730-1995. Batch study experiments dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pH, massa adsorben, waktu kontak dan konsentrasi larutan ion logam. Karakterisasi karbon aktif yang dilakukan memberikan hasil kadar air sebesar 4,78%, kadar abu 6,40%, kadar zat terbang 13,39%, kadar karbon terikat 80,22%, daya jerap iod sebesar 1024,88 mg/g. Adsorpsi ion logam Cr(VI) oleh karbon aktif pelepah pohon salak menunjukkan kapasitas adsorpsi sebesar 0,0323 mg/g dengan efisiensi adsorpsi 95,54% dengan kondisi optimum pada pH 2, massa adsorben 1,5 gram dan waktu kontak selama 45 menit. Proses adsorpsi ion logam Cr(VI) oleh adsorben karbon aktif dari pelepah pohon salak cenderung mengikuti model Isoterm Freundlich.
       
      Salak tree fronds are one of the underutilized parts that can be used as a material for making activated carbon to adsorb Cr(VI) metal ions. Characterization of activated carbon quality based on (SNI) 06-3730-1995. In addition, batch study experiments were conducted to determine the effect of pH, adsorbent dosage, contact time and concentration of metal ion solution. The characterization of activated carbon gives the results of water content 4.78%, ash content of 6.40%, volatile matter of 13.39%, fixed carbon of 80.22%, iodine adsorption capacity of 1024.88 mg/g. Adsorption of Cr(VI) metal ions by salak tree frond waste activated carbon showed that adsorption capacity 0.0323 mg/g with an removal efficiency of 95.54% under optimum conditions at pH 2, adsorbent mass of 1.5 grams and contact time of 45 minutes. The adsorption process of Cr(VI) metal ions by activated carbon adsorbent from salak tree frond tends to follow the Freundlich isotherm model.
