      Abstract

Indonesia has a vast swath of peatland 14,9 million hectares which adds to the poorly managed land of peatlands, which have high water content, limited nutrient content, and acidic soil. Current peatland management initiatives allow plantation commodities like oil palm to be cultivated even with specific management measures like preserving the water level (TMA) in peatlands. The low nutrient content and acidic nature of peat soil, which diminish the soil's fresh bunch (FFB) output in comparison to mineral soil, are still issues that it is unable to resolve. The low pH and readily available nutrients in the soil are caused by the high amounts of Al (aluminum) and Fe (iron), which can bind the nutrient P (phosphorus) for oil palm plants. This study aims to explore the effects of boiler ash treatment on the pH of acidic peatlands. The Statistical Analysis System (SAS) software is employed to evaluate research results and establish boiler ash application doses. The soil pH in the peat region can be raised to a significant extent depending on the quantity of boiler ash applied. The soil's pH was raised to 5.8 by a 22 kilogram dose, which was more effective than application quantities of 13,6 kg and 7,3 kg.
