      Abstract

One of the factors affecting coffee production is the labor factor, especially in harvesting activities. Harvester productivity can be influenced by several factors, one of which is gender. This study aims to determine the effect of gender of harvesters on yield, yield loss, and picking quality of arabica coffee. The research was conducted at PT Sulotco Jaya Abadi, Tana Toraja, South Sulawesi for 1 month. Using a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 1 factor (gender) with 2 treatments (male and female) repeated 6 times for each variable. The average yield of men was greater than women with 31.63 kg and 29.30 kg respectively. The number of fruits left behind by female harvesters and male harvesters were 1.47 fruits/tree and 1.64 fruits/tree respectively. The picking quality of female harvesters and male harvesters were 979.83 superior fruits and 973.17 superior fruits respectively. Based on further tests conducted, the effect of gender had no significant effect on yield, yield loss, and picking quality.
