The population increase is a factor contributing to land cover change in
Cisarua District. Monitoring these changes is carried out using remote sensing
technology. Land cover change, especially the conversion of forested land to nonforest, has an impact on CO2e emissions. The study aimed to avaluate land cover
changes using Landsat 8 imagery from 2015 and 2022 and estimate CO2e
emissions due to these land cover changes The classification method of land cover
used digital classification specifically maximum likelihood classification and CO2e
emission estimation used secondary data on carbon values for each land cover
class. The research results show that land cover classification produced nine land
cover classes: built-up land, water bodies, open land, primary forest, secondary
forest, plantations, dry land agriculture, wet land agriculture and shrubs. Changes
in land cover from 2015 to 2022 indicate that the area of built-up land has
increased by 1414.60 ha. However, in Cisarua District, the dominant land cover
from 2015 to 2022 is primary forest, although its area has decreased. As a result of
land cover chane from 2015 to 2022, the estimated CO2-eq emissions are 185,790.1
tons or 25,641 tons/year.
