Gas amonia memiliki bau yang tajam dan menyengat serta dapat menyebabkan iritasi pada saluran pernafasan. Peningkatan kadar amonia dalam kandang ayam broiler dapat mempengaruhi kesehatan ternak ayam berupa gangguan saluran pernafasan, selain itu juga dapat menyebabkan polusi pada lingkungan sekitar perkandangan. Salah satu tindakan untuk penurunan kadar amonia dalam kandang dapat dilakukan dengan penyemprotan Effective Microorganisms-4 (EM4). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan informasi pengaruh penyemprotan EM4 terhadap penurunan kadar amonia pada kandang broiler semi closed house. Penelitian dilaksanakan di PT Rismawan Pratama Bersinar dari tanggal 1 - 24 Agustus 2023. Data primer dalam penelitian ini adalah pengukuran kadar amonia, suhu, dan kelembapan dalam kandang broiler semi closed house dengan populasi sebanyak 20.000 ekor. Konsentrasi kadar EM4 yang digunakan yaitu sebesar 0.98%. Pengukuran kadar amonia dilakukan menggunakan Hydrion ammonia test papper sebanyak 5 kali yaitu 1 kali dilakukan sebelum penyemprotan larutan EM4 dan 4 kali dilakukan setelah penyemprotan larutan EM4. Hasil penyemprotan larutan EM4 pada kandang broiler semi closed house hari ke-1 menunjukkan adanya penurunan kadar amonia sebesar 5 ppm dengan suhu kandang 27,3℃ dan kelembapan 70%, meningkatnya kelembapan terjadi karena dilakukan penyemprotan larutan EM4. Penyemprotan larutan EM4 pada kandang broiler semi closed house menunjukkan adanya penurunan kadar amonia sebesar 5 ppm pada suhu kandang 27,3℃ dan kelembapan 70%, kadar amonia bertahan dibawah tingkat berbahaya 10 ppm sampai dengan hari ke-3. Peningkatan kadar amonia lebih dipengaruhi oleh perubahan suhu kandang sedangkan perubahan tingkat kelembapan banyak dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor seperi ventilasi yang buruk, suhu yang tinggi. Ammonia gas has a sharp, pungent odor and can cause irritation of the respiratory tract. Increasing ammonia levels in broiler chicken cages can affect the health of chickens in the form of respiratory tract problems, besides that it can also cause pollution in the environment around the cage. One action to reduce ammonia levels in cages can be done by spraying Effective Microorganisms-4 (EM4). This study aims to obtain information on the effect of EM4 spraying on reducing ammonia levels in semi-closed house broiler cages. The research was carried out at PT Rismawan Pratama Bersinar from 1 - 24 August 2023. The primary data in this research were measurements of ammonia levels, temperature and humidity in semi-closed house broiler cages with a population of 20,000 individuals. The EM4 concentration used was 0.98%. Measurement of ammonia levels was carried out using Hydrion ammonia test paper 5 times, namely 1 time before spraying the EM4 solution and 4 times after spraying the EM4 solution. The results of spraying EM4 solution in semi-closed house broiler cages on day 1 showed a decrease in ammonia levels of 5 ppm with a cage temperature of 27.3℃ and humidity of 70%. The increase in humidity occurred because the EM4 solution was sprayed. Spraying EM4 solution in semi-closed house broiler cages showed a decrease in ammonia levels of 5 ppm at a cage temperature of 27.3℃ and humidity of 70%, ammonia levels remained below the dangerous level of 10 ppm until the 3rd day. Increases in ammonia levels are more influenced by changes in cage temperature, while changes in humidity levels are influenced by various factors such as poor ventilation and high temperatures.
