      Abstract
The golden rabbitfish, with the latin name Siganus guttatus, is characterized by having yellow spots on the surface of its body. Hatching is still hampered by the level of mortality during the larval period (2-3 days after hatching DAH). Mortality is thought to occur due to the limited ability of S. gutattus larvae to carry out food predation activities. Phase I research aims to determine the appropriate time for initial feeding of S. guttatus larvae based on the development of eyes and mouth openings along with the utilization of food reserves. The eyes are formed at the age of 6 DAH, experience pigmentation at the age of 24 DAH, and become more contrasting at the age of 2 DAH. On the other hand, the diameter of food reserves becomes smaller at the age of 24 DAH and begins to disappear at the age of 4 DAH. It was concluded that the appropriate time for initial feeding of golden rabbitfish S. guttatus larvae is at the age of 2 days after hatching based on the development of eyes and mouth openings along with the utilization of food reserves.. Phase II research aims to evaluate the effect of β-carotene as a natural food enrichment for rotifers on the growth performance of golden rabbitfish larvae. Rotifers were enriched with β-carotene at different doses, namely (0 mg L-1), (2.5 mg L-1), (5.0 mg L-1), (7.5 mg L-1), and (10 mg L-1). The results of the research showed that ß-carotene at a dose of 7.5 mg L-1 as a rotifer enrichment could increase the ability of golden rabbitfish larvae to detect food, so that the amount of feed predation could be increased and then obtain better growth performance compared to without ß-carotene enrichment. Phase III research aims to evaluate the effect of taurine, as a natural food enrichment for rotifers, on the growth performance of golden rabbitfish larvae (S. guttatus). Rotifers were enriched with different doses of taurine (0 mg L-1), (25 mg L-1), (50 mg L-1), and (75 mg L-1). Taurine at a dose of 50 mg L-1 as a natural feed enrichment for rotifers for golden rabbitfish S. guttatus larvae can increase survival and improve growth performance compared to without taurine enrichment. Phase IV research aims to evaluate the effect of a combination of enrichment of β-carotene and taurine in rotifers as natural foods on the growth performance of golden rabbitfish larvae. Four rotifer enrichment treatments were tested, namely without β-carotene and taurine, B7.5 mg L-1, T50 mg L-1, and a combination of β-carotene 7.5 mg L-1 and taurine 50 mg L-1. Using a combination of β-carotene at a dose of 7.5 mg L-1 and taurine at a dose of 50 mg L-1 as a natural feed enrichment for rotifers can increase growth by 48% compared to without enrichment of β-carotene and taurine.
