dc.description.abstract | Maleo bird is one of Indonesia's endemic birds which is only found on Sulawesi Island.
The population of this bird is decreasing due to various factors such as habitat
destruction, hunting, damage to nesting sites, and use by humans. To prevent the
extinction of this endemic bird, various conservation efforts are needed, both through
in situ and ex situ conservation activities. One of the ex-situ conservation activities that
can be carried out is through captive breeding activities, namely efforts to breed wild
animals to increase their population so that they can provide benefits to the welfare of
the community or support conservation efforts. Knowledge of the biology and ecology
of maleo birds is needed as a basis for breeding efforts. | id |
