Abstract

Digital library is a library that keeps the collection in a form of digital file and passes it through a computer network. Collection lending system is a part of digital library which is useful in the process of borrowing digital library collection. Collection lending system has multimedia file collection, but it does not have multimedia file reader. Collection lending system also has unguaranteed security system. Therefore, there is a need of improvement in this system. The improvement of this system is done by adding a multimedia file reader facility and security enhancements. Security is enhanced by the security services improvements. There is two ways to improve the security services. The first is the improvements of confidentiality and authentication service. The second improvement is the addition of integrity service. Confidentiality service improvement is made by adding a new input to the header, implementation of the password hash function, and adds a read-only and hidden attribute to the temporary file that generated during the decryption process. New input in a form of hours is added to the header to handle date manipulation. Entity authentication service is enhanced with the implementation of captcha. Captcha is implemented to ensure that the entity that borrowed the file is not a computer program. Integrity service addition is made by the implementation of hash function to the file. Integrity service is added to ensure that the file that has been borrowed has not been modified by the entity that is not responsible.
