The sampling method is typically utilized in the process of estimating the potential of forest stands, which includes community forests. The method of sampling requires careful consideration of a variety of factors, including the form and dimensions of the sample unit. The purpose of this research is to determine the form and dimensions of sample units that are appropriate for estimating the potential of smallholder forest stands (below 5 ha in size). The systematic sampling with random start was put through its paces on a variety of sample units, including square plots (20 m x 20 m), circle plots (0.02 ha, 0.04 ha, and 0.1 ha), and tree number plots (6, 8, and 10-trees), with a sampling intensity of 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% respectively. According to the findings, the circular sample plot with an area of 0.02 ha was the best sample unit for estimating density, basal area, and stand volume using the systematic sampling with random start method. This was demonstrated by the fact that the plot was circular. The circle plot of 0.02 ha has the highest estimation interval and accuracy, according to the findings of a comparison of the accuracy of the estimation with other sample unit forms.
