dc.description.abstract | Serisin pada kokon ulat sutra merupakan limbah cair hasil degumming yang
berpotensi sebagai polutan lingkungan jika tidak dimanfaatkan dengan baik. Serisin
mempunyai senyawa aktif yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai material kosmetik.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas penambahan 5% serisin kokon
S. c. ricini pada bahan krim pencerah kulit. Peubah yang diamati adalah aktivitas
antioksidan serisin dan krim dengan metode penghambatan 1.1–difenil–2–
pikrilhidrazil (DPPH), kestabilan fisik krim diuji dengan mengukur pH, viskositas, dan
penilaian organoleptik selama 21 hari, serta indeks melanin dan tingkat iritasi kulit
dengan mexameter selama 28 hari. Analisis statistik dilakukan menggunakan analisis
varian satu arah (ANOVA). Hasil menunjukkan krim serisin memiliki aktivitas
antioksidan tertinggi dibanding perlakuan lain (p<0,05). Secara fisik, krim serisin
memiliki kestabilan >21 hari, kecuali pada viskositas (<21 hari). Krim serisin dan
komersial memiliki perubahan indeks melanin yang sama, namun berbeda nyata
dengan krim kontrol pada hari ke-28 (p<0,05). Ketiga krim perlakuan tidak
menunjukkan efek iritasi pada kulit. Penambahan serisin 5% pada krim berpotensi
sebagai krim pencerah kulit berdasarkan efektivitas dan kestabilan fisiknya. | id |
dc.description.sponsorship | Sericin in silk cocoon is a liquid waste product of degumming process that can
become an environmental pollutant if not utilized properly. Sericin contains active
compounds that can be used as cosmetic materials. This study to analyze the
effectiveness of adding 5% sericin from S. c. ricini cocoons to a skin brightening cream.
Observed variables were antioxidant activity of sericin and the cream using 1,1-
diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) inhibition method. Physical stability of the cream
was tested by measuring pH, viscosity, and organoleptic assessment for 21 days, while
melanin index and skin irritation level were assessed using a mexameter for 28 days.
Statistical analysis using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results showed
sericin cream had the highest antioxidant activity compared to other treatments
(p<0.05). Physically, the sericin cream showed stability for more than 21 days, except
for viscosity (< 21 days). Sericin cream and commercial cream had the same change in
melanin index, but significantly differed from the control cream on the 28th day
(p<0.05). All treatment creams showed no skin irritation. The addition of 5% sericin to
the cream has the potential to be used as a skin brightening cream based on its
effectiveness and physical stability. | id |
