      Abstract

Coast is a dynamic place that can easily change. Changes in coastline are significant to know, from the extent to the boundaries of a coast area. The south coast of Tasikmalaya is well-used for tourism, industry, and fishery activities. The coast of this regency is directly facing the Indian Ocean, which causes the changes in this coast to be very dynamic. This study aimed to determine changes in the coastline on the south coast of Tasikmalaya, West Java, using Sentinel-2A satellite with the Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS) method. The DSAS method calculates the net shoreline movement (NSM) and end point rate (EPR), whereas NSM is calculated by measuring the distance of shoreline changes from 2016, 2019, and 2022. The result shows that the largest abrasion occurred in Zone E by -139,71 m (NSM) with an average EPR of -23,3 m per year, which is categorized as a very heavy abrasion, where accretion occurred in Subzone B by 137,82 m (NSM) with an average EPR of 22,98 m per year which is categorized as a very heavy accretion. The south coast of Tasikmalaya is affected by rivers that carry sedimentary material that causes changes in the geomorphology of that coast.
