Estimasi Net Ecosystem Exchange Lahan Gambut Menggunakan Remote Sensing (Studi Kasus: Tanaman Acacia Crassicarpa Kabupaten Pelalawan)
Abstract
Peatlands as biomass are the largest storage place for carbon compared to other types of land. Calculation of the flow of carbon in an environment can be explained by the concept of NEE (net ecosystem exchange). This study aims to monitor net ecosystem exchange (NEE) in Acacia crassicarpa plantation peatland using remote sensing technology. Acacia crassicarpa is an important tree species in forestry and land restoration activities. The estimation of the NEE (net ecosystem exchange) value of the Acacia crassicarpa plant uses several parameters which include the NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index), Fraction Absorbed Photosynthesis Active Radiation (fAPAR) Gross Primary Productivity (GPP), and Net Primary Productivity (NPP) values. Visualization of NEE maps depicting the spatial variability of carbon exchange in Acacia crassicarpa plantations and statistical results are used to provide a better understanding of the contribution of Acacia crassicarpa plantations to the carbon cycle and climate change. The conversion of peatlands into acacia plantations in an area will change the ability to absorb and store carbon in that area. The research results show acacia plants have higher carbon stocks with an average of 44.5 tC/ha/year for all growth phases. The carbon emission value of acacia plants is lower for the final phase at about 9.5 tC/ha/year for the three measurement sites. Understanding the NEE in these plantations is crucial in measuring the capacity of ecosystems to absorb carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere and affect global carbon balances.
