      Abstract
Rice is an important crop as a source staple food for Indonesians. The most important pest in rice cultivation is the brown planthopper (BPH) Nilaparvata lugens (Stål). Natural enemies, especially predators, play an important role in controlling BPH populations . The research objective was to obtain information about the population dynamics of BPH and their natural enemies in rice varieties IR 64, IPB 3S and Lusi. The research was conducted in rice cultivation in Situgede Village , West Bogor District, Bogor, took place from February to June 2017. Observations of BPH and predators were carried out directly on rice varieties IR 64, IPB 3S and Lusi. The results showed that WBC macroptera adult had found in rice planting from the age of 1 WAP. During the growth period of the rice varieties IR 64, IPB 3S and Lusi there were two peaks BPH population , namely at 5-6 WAP and 10 WAP. The highest WBC population was in the IR 64 variety and the lowest in IPB 3S. The most common predator found in IR 64, IPB 3S and Lusi varieties is Pardosa pseudoannulata , Paederus fuscifes , Ophionea nigrofasciata , Cyrtorhinus lividipennis and Coccinellidae. Most predators were found in all three varieties rice is P. pseudoannulata . This predator complex is able to suppress the BPH population until just before harvest.
