      Abstract

Shallow Sea Waters Habitat is a place to live and shelter various types of organisms and has a very important economic and ecological role. This habitat has the potential to change so it is necessary to be monitored regularly, one of them is by mapping shallow water habitats using remote sensing technology. This study aimed to map and determine changes in the distribution of shallow marine habitats using the object-based image analysis (OBIA) method on Kelapa Dua Island. In general, data processing is carried out in two stages: segmentation and image classification. The segmentation process is carried out by trial and error by getting a scale of 100 at level 1 and a scale of 10 at level 2. The results of the classification indicated 6 (six) classes of shallow marine habitats, namely, coral, seagrass, macroalgae, sand, dead coral algae and rubble. The area mapping results’ accuracy is 70% in the 2018 image acquisition and 70.77% in the 2022 image acquisition. The kappa coefficient values respectively 0.617 and 0.612. The analysis can show changes in the area of each habitat where the largest increase in area was found in the dead coral algae class and the largest decrease in area in the sand class.
