| dc.description.abstract | The objective of this research is to develop a Linux distribution, ILOSedu, targeted for academic users. This distribution is built through remastering another established distribution, similar to the previously developed ILOS in 2008. In order to know the needed applications to include in ILOSedu, a survey was conducted at FMIPA IPB, participated by 27 students and 14 lecturers. We experimented with Fedora Core and PCLinuxOS using Revisor and Mklivecd to remaster, respectively. PCLinuxOS with Mklivecd was chosen for the final ILOSedu as it gave better flexibility in the remastering. Comparison results with ILOS show that ILOSedu has better hardware support.
