Pola Sebaran Titik Panas (Hotspot) Sebagai Indikator Kemungkinan Terjadinya Kebakaran di Lahan Gambut di Kabupaten Bengkalis
Abstract
Peatlands are stretches of land composed by accumulation of incompletely decomposed organic matter. The peatland area in Bengkalis Regency has a high level of fire hazard. Peatland fires are difficult to extinguish and have devastating impacts on ecology, economy and health. The occurrence of forest and land fires can be indicated by the appearance of hotspots. The purpose of this study was to identify the distribution of hotspots as an indicator of fire on peatlands in Bengkalis Regency. Hotspot distribution pattern’s identification is done by overlaying hotspot data, peatland distribution, and regional administration data. During 2017-2019, there were 1,473 hotspots identified in Bengkalis Regency. There was a significant spike of hotspots in 2019, in response to El Nino in Indonesia. A total of 1,404 hotspots were found on peatlands, while 69 hotspots were located on mineral soil lands. Hotspots are dominated by medium confidence levels. Most hotspots change every year and converge at some point.
