      Abstract

Efforts to carry out the conservation of natural resources are very important to do, such as management and supervision of fishing vessels. Of course, in doing so, we need a technology that can detect a large number of ships in a large area unit. The purpose of this study is to detect the fishing vessel distribution patterns detected from the VMS data. The method used in this research is descriptive method, using position data, ship identity number, and ship speed. Furthermore, the data is displayed so that it can be seen the distribution of ship collection activities. The results showed that the highest activity based on time was an increase in the number of detections at night, which was 34% and the lowest occurred during the day at 17%. The highest number of detections occurred in the east monsoon in September, amounting to 653 and the lowest was in January, 63 ships.
