The purpose of this study was to examine factors influencing physical and psysical and psychological stress of working women and non working women. A sample of 120 women was randomly selected from a kelurahan (village) in Bandung, West Java. Result showed that women laborers were more likely to experience stress than non working women, however working women in the service sectors were less likely to experience stress than non working women. The stress level of clerical women and non working women was not different. Family income and women’s time allocation on household jobs, personal care and leisure activities were also significantly related to women’s stress level. The higher the incom, the longer the time allocation, the lower the women’s stress level.id
