This study was conducted to observe cholesterol levels of rabbits fed a diet high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia) and treatment with simvastatin and turmeric extract. Nine male rabbits weighing 1.5-2.1 kg with aged 1 year were divided into 3 groups; control group (untreated), hypercholesterolemia group fed a diet high of cholesterol then given simvastatin, hypercholesterolemia group fed a diet high cholesterol then given extracts of turmeric. Hypercholesterolemia group derived from the diet in the form of palm oil which is heated for 10 minutes also egg yolks for 3 weeks and then given simvastatin at a dose of 1.2mg / kg of body weight and turmeric extracts with 1.66ml dose / kg of body weight in the next week. Measurement of blood cholesterol levels using the kit NESCO AMS Chol4 / 092 711. The data obtained were analyzed with Microsoft Excel and and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) with a confidence level of 95% and followed by Duncan's test. This study shows that dietary coconut oil at a dose of 4% of the total feed of 100 gram and egg yolk with 1 egg doses can increase blood cholesterol levels at week-2 gived. Treatment with simvastatin and turmeric extract can lower blood cholesterol levels in the first week of treatment.
