Pengetahuan Pekerja dan Pengurus Tempat Penimbunan Kayu Tradisional terhadap Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja
Abstract
Forestry activities like log yard is an activity that is prone to accidents. Poor understanding about the importance of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) can increase the risk of accidents. This study aims to describe working conditions in log yard and assess knowledge log yard workers and log pond managers to OSH. Data obtained by direct interviews from the questionnaire using a Likert scale for all respondents and direct observation in the field. Data were processed and analyzed descriptively to get the value of each respondent. Data that has been obtained from the analysis of descriptive processed by finding the difference between the knowledges of the respondents with an assessment based on standards that will be analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. Observations the work environment in log yard showed the value of work climate, noise, and dust were exceeding the allowable threshold value as was stated by Regulations of the Minister of Labor and Transmigration in 2011 about a Threshold Value of Physical Factors and Chemical Factors in The Workplace. The results also showed that the knowledge of the respondents were in very bad category in this topic of (1) OSH basic information, (2) OSH reasons and benefits, (3) rights and obligations of workers and managers, (4) the basic source of dangers information, and (5) the information of threshold value. Knowledge of all respondents were overestimate mean that the respondents count itself has a good knowledge on OSH aspect but they did not actually. Strategies for increasing workers and managers knowledges on OSH aspect can be done by adopting the above-mentioned findings.
