This study was conducted to determine the abundance of the population of Hyposidra talaca at PTP Nusantara VIII Gunung Mas. Hyposidra talaca is an important pest in tea plantations, because it could decrease the production of tea. Hyposidra talaca generally attacks young leaves and shoots, severe investation of this pest can cause heavy defoliation of leaves and shoots of the plant. The method used was direct observation in the field by observing the population Hyposidra talaca. Prior to this study a survey was conducted to ditermine the sites. The difference in Hyposidra talaca populutaion dynamics between two sites was studied. The population dynamics of these pests were recorded 8 times on each site. Nucleopolyhedrosis virus infected Hyposidra talaca were collected in the plastic cup. Infected larvae usually become soft and prior to death they climb to the top and hang on the tea leaves in an inverted V shape position. Dead larvae caused by other factors usually found in dry condition. The presence of other insects were observed and recorded and was collected using insect nets.en
