Karakteristik Beberapa Jenis Kayu sebagai Bahan Baku Energi Biomassa
Abstract
Wood is an alternative renewable energy resources which potential to substitute fossil energy. Biomass is renewable and environmentally fiendly. The objective of this research is to measure the properties of eight wood species as an energy feedstock. Characteristics of woods was analyzed by proxymate analysis according to ASTM standard. The results showed that characteristics of woods were moisture content 10.24-14.25%, ash content 0.25-1.13%, volatile matter content 81.00-84.75%, fixed carbon content 85-18.12%, density 0,44-0,74 g/cm³, and calorific value 3571-4288 kcal/kg. Based on these characteristics, the woods species that has good quality as a source of biomass energy are stem of gamal, lamtoro, ki hiyang, kaliandra, mete, and red sengon, while mindi, gmelina and branch stem of kaliandra have lower quality but it still has the potential for biomass energy
