Studi Daya Rekat Lateks pada Media Kulit Hewan
Abstract
Natural rubber is one of the ingredients for the manufacture of adhesives because they have a sticky physical characteristics caused by Van der Waals force between both of molecule chain rubber and adherent. This research was conducted to see any changes in the latex adhesive strength after modification of molecule structure with depolymerization process which is applied in water based phase. Natural rubber polymer chain can be chemically degraded by the addition of degradation materials such as H2O2 and NaOCl. Natrium lauril sulfate (emal) surfactant and polyoxyiethylen lauril ether (emulgen) was used as a stabilizer. Adhesive strength in this research was analized to know the factors which were influenced and can caused a bonding between two surface of the substrat. Measurement of adhesive strength test carried out by shear tests and peel test using Tensometer. The results showed the real impact of the combination treatment with increasing doses of H2O2 and the length of depolymerization process for adhesive bonding strength. The higher value of adhesion strength which was measured by shear test was 50,60 lb/in2 when the doses of H2O2 was 5phr and the length of reaction time was 8 hours. In other case, when the measurement of adhesion strength was peel test, the phenomenon of adhesion strength was fluctuated with the higher value was 1,66 lb/in .This value was obtained when the doses of H2O2 was 5 phr and the length of depolimerisation process was 4 hours.
