The Effectiveness of Vitazyme Usage on the Growth and Production of Caisim (Brassica juncea) and Rice (Oryza sativa L.)
Efektivitas Penggunaan Vitazyme pada Pertumbuhan dan Produksi Caisim (Brassica juncea) dan Padi (Oryza sativa L.)
Abstract
Vitazyme is a natural solution that gives the biological stimulus to microbes in the roots, increases the rate of photosynthesis and suppresses photorespiration. The studies in Indonesia and some countries such as the USA, Australia and the Philippines on various types of plants such as caisim and pakcoy have showed that the use of standard dosage results in an increased favorable yield. However, the effort to promote Vitazyme in Indonesia will meet some obstacles such as the relatively expensive price amid the purchasing power of farmers tending to be low. For this reason, it is necessary to facilitate the introduction of Vitazyme to the community, for example by reducing the dosage of Vitazyme in application. It is expected that a relatively low dosage can obtained and suit to the capacity of farmers. The objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Vitazyme application with low dosage on the growth and production of caisim (Brassica juncea) and standard dosage on the growth and production of rice (Oryza sativa L.). The experiment with Caisim was carried out in the greenhouse in Baranangsiang Bogor and Soil Biotechnology Laboratory at the Department of Soil Science and Land Resources, Faculty of Agriculture, IPB, while the rice experiment was conducted at the Experimental Farm of Muara Bogor, Main Institute of Rice Research. The study of caisim used a complete random design of six treatments and five replications. The treatments used were 100% NPK, 100% NPK + Vitazyme, 75% NPK, 75%NPK + Vitazyme, 50% NPK and 50% NPK + Vitazyme. The measured parameters were height, wet weight of upper part and plant roots. The rice experiment was on a rice field of 2000 m2, divided into two plots of 1000 m2. The first was the control plot, while the second was treated with Vitazyme. The parameters that were observed were plant height, number of young plants and productive of young plants per cluster, and the production of dry unhusked grain. Vitazyme merupakan larutan alami yang memberikan stimulus biologis terhadap mikroba di perakaran, meningkatkan laju fotosintesis dan menekan fotorespirasi. Penelitian di Indonesia dan beberapa negara seperti USA, Australia dan Filipina pada berbagai jenis tanaman seperti caisim dan pakcoy dengan menggunakan dosis standar memberikan peningkatan hasil yang menguntungkan. Meskipun demikian, upaya memasyarakatkan Vitazyme di Indonesia akan menemui beberapa kendala diantaranya harga Vitazyme yang relatif mahal ditengah daya beli petani yang cenderung rendah. Berdasarkan fenomena ini diperlukan upaya yang dapat memudahkan pengenalan Vitazyme ke masyarakat, dimana salah satunya adalah dengan mengurangi dosis penggunaan Vitazyme. Dengan demikian diharapkan diperoleh dosis yang relatif rendah dan sesuai dengan kemampuan petani. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui efektivitas aplikasi Vitazyme dosis rendah terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi caisim (Brassica juncea) dan dosis standar terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi padi (Oryza sativa L.). Penelitian caisim dilaksanakan di rumah kaca di Baranangsiang Bogor dan Laboratorium Bioteknologi Tanah Departemen Ilmu Tanah dan Sumberdaya Lahan Fakultas Pertanian IPB, sedangkan penelitian padi dilakukan di Kebun Percobaan Muara Bogor Balai Besar Penelitian Tanaman Padi. Penelitian caisim menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan enam perlakuan dan lima ulangan. Perlakuan yang digunakan adalah 100% NPK, 100% NPK + Vitazyme, 75% NPK, 75% NPK + Vitazyme, 50% NPK, dan 50% NPK + Vitazyme. Parameter yang diamati adalah tinggi, bobot basah bagian atas dan akar tanaman. Penelitian padi dilakukan pada sawah seluas 2000 m2 yang terbagi atas dua petak seluas 1000 m2. Petak pertama adalah kontrol sedangkan petak kedua adalah perlakuan Vitazyme. Parameter yang diamati meliputi tinggi tanaman, jumlah anakan dan anakan produktif per rumpun, dan produksi gabah kering panen.
