dc.description.abstractFreshwater pearl mussel are commonly resulted from Hyriopsis Schlegeli, H. cumingii, Margaritifera and Anondota implicate. Freshwater mussel Anondota woodlana, Lea. has similar morphology to Hyrlopsis sp. so that it can be used to produce pearl. The purpose of this research is to find: (1) The biology, ecology and physiology aspects of pearl mussel Anondota woodlana, Lea. (2) The growth and reproduction of the pearl mussel. This research was conducted at Fish Health Laboratory, BBPBAT Sukabumi for 3 months from Desember 2008 until February 2009, by some methods as follows:specimen treatment dry method and microscopic and qualitative observation of the mussel's grow and reproduction. Pearl mussel as freshwater mollusc have many important economic potendes. Pearl mussel have specific characters as paratism at glochidia larvae phase. This animal also have important reproduction ability related to metabolism and bioenergetic. Therefore, it needs a sustainable use management.en
