Studi Morfometri Lumba-lumba Hidung Botol (Tursiops aduncus,Ehrenberg 1833) Di Kolam Konservasi PT. Wersut Seguni Indonesia, Kendal

Abstract

Bottlenose dolphin is composed of two similar species, Tursiops truncatus and Tursiops aduncus. The purpose of this research is to study the external morphology of T. aduncus. This research was conducted in the conservation pond of PT. Wersut Seguni Indonesia, Pantai Cahaya Klampok Sendang Sekucing, Rowosari, Kendal. Four male and two female bottlenose dolphins were used in this research. The average measurements are: TBL (total body length) 210.56.74 cm, SEY (snout-eye length) 21.14.07 cm, RL (rostrum length) 11.81.17 cm, RW (rostrum width) 7.51.51 cm, MWF (maximal width of the flipper) 13.31.21 cm, TW (tail width) 53.82.92 cm, CB (circle of body) 1104.9 cm, and DFL (dorsal flipper length) 31.35.6 cm. The results showed that the size of T. aduncus is smaller compared to T. truncatus while the RL and TBL ratio is greater in T. aduncus. Measurements result indicates that there is no difference between male and female T. aduncus.
