The objectives of this study are: (7) assessing the environmental carrying capacity of Serang Watershed, (2) studying the environmental spatial planning of Serang Watershed based on the environmental carrying capacity, (3) evaluating the suitability between the Spatial Planning (RTRW) of Kulonprogo District with the environmental condition of Serang Watershed. The applied method in this study is based on field survey, including the physical condition and socio-economic of the people. Map analysis and remote sensing analysis was carried out in order to prepare the field survey. Obtained data from the image and map interpretation also the field work were analyzed with spatially descriptive method in form of spatial data of the watershed environment and the recommendation map of watershed environment. This research shows that: ( I) at this moment, part of land utilization of Serang watershed has exceeded the environmental carrying capacity, (2) Spatial planning of watershed based on the environmental carrying capacity is a good way to evaluate the environmental degradation, (3) there are unsuitable values between the RTRW of Kulonprogo and the environmental condition of Serang watershed, (4) the information of environmental factors which used as input in the spatial planning of Kulonprogo District is not basedon the propercondition asinput in spatialplanning.id
