Effect of shading and nitrogen fertilizer on dry m.atter production of . Brllchlarlo delcumbens , Stapf. A split-plot experiment with shading intensity ,(0.80 and 60%) as main plot iia•1 and nitrogen fertilizer (0,75 and 150 kg ha•1 ) as sub plot was conducted on latosol soil at IPB experimental fllDJl at Tajur, Bogar from April to August 1986. Dry matter production and number of plant individual per hill were recorded at two 4lklay-cutting periods. Root dry weight was attained from 1.2x1.2 m square plot comprising of nine hUs by digging into 30 cm depth. Based on statistical analysis, nitrogen fertilizer significantly affected the dry matter production at the two cutting and the number of plant individual per hill at the first cutting but didn't affect the root dry weight. The higher the nitrogen fertilizer applied, the higher dry matter production and the number of plant individual per hill achieved. Increasing shade intensity, decreased the dry matter production, the root dry weight and the number of plant individual per hillid
