The aim of this research was to evaluate the affectiveness of hexane fraction of ethanol turmeric extract on the wound helaing process of mice. The extraction process was based on maseration method. Fourtyfive male albino mice aged 2-2,5 month were divided into 3 groups, all groups were received incision 1 cm on their back skin; group I was positive control (treated with commercial oitment which contained neomycin sulfat 5%); group II was negative control (without treatment); group III was treated by hexane turmeric fraction ointment. The commercial ointmnetand hexane turmeric fraction ointmnet were given topically twice a day. Three mice from each gropus were euthanized at 2nd, 4th, 7th, 14th, and 21st days post incisition (pi) for gross pathology abservation and microscopic lesions of the injured skin. Phytochemical analysis resulted that the hexane turmeric fraction contain alkoloid, kuinon and saponin. Gross examination revealed that the hexane turmeric fraction and positive control gropus showed better result an woud healing process compared to the negative control. Histophatology of the hexane fraction treated mice showed few neutrophil with increase in collagenation and neovascularization compared to the negative control. Based on the macroscopic and microscopic observation, the hexane turmeric fraction has properties which promotes wound healing.

Malaria is a major public health problem in Fakfak District. The studies were aimed to describe the behavior of Anopheles punctulatus, the biting activities, the characteristics breeding place, the incidence rate of malaria, and the people behavior in Dulanpokpok Village. The studies were done from May to August 2009. The Anopheles mosquitoes were collected by indocr and outdoor human landing colleciion in the evening between 6 pm and 6 am. Breeding place characteristics were measured based on the larval collections. The people behavior were interviewed with indepth inteview. The result showed that the man biting rate of A. punctulatus indoors was 1,38 bites/•nan/night, and outdoors was 1,48 bites/ma11/night. The biting activities of A. punctulatus were known as endophagic and exophagic, and the biting peaks of A. punctulatus were at 22.00-23.00 and 02.00-03.00 o'clock. The lanme of A. pur.ctulatus were found in temporary pools such as muddy pool!J, wheel ruts, ditches and puddles. The breeding places characteristics of A. punctulatus were water base on mud, water depth 5-50cm, water temperature 28°C, pH 6-6,8 and salinity O%o. The lack of knowledge and the behaviour of people going outdoor during the night will increase the risk of malaria infection in the study area.

This study was aimed to test Staphylococcus aureus in frozen chicken meat as an indicator of quality and poultry slaughter house hygiene. Thirty two samples of frozen chicken meats transported through Merak port were taken from Cilegon 2nd Class Agricultural Quarantine Installation. Those samples came from DKI Jakarta (11 samples), Bekasi (6 samples), Bogar (4 samples) and Serang (11 samples). Number of S. aureus in frozen chicken meat was conducted with plate count method using baird parker agar (BPA) media. The results showed that the average number of S. aureus in Serang was the highest (5.46x1rY±6. 73x1rY cfu/g). In the other hand, Bekasi had the lowest average number ofS. aureus (0.60x1cr±0.38x1rY cfulg). From the four areas, there were samples which over the maximum limit ofS. aureus as permitted in SNI 01-7388- 2009 (1x1rY cfu/g) with an atJerage proportion about 35.42%.

Cikal bakal "OTORITAS VETERINER" (OTVET) di Indonesia bermula sejak jaman penjajahan, dimana Jawaian Kehewanan merupakan bagian dari Departemen Pertanian, Perdagangan dan Industri. Jawatan ini ditugasi menangani dua da hal, yaitu polisi saniter dan veteriner hygiene. Tugas polisi saniter meliputi pencegahan dan pemberantasan penyakii: hewan, penyediaan bibit ternak dan pengawasan pasar. Sedangkan tugas veteriner hygiene meliputi pemeriksaan hygiene sapi perah, pemeriksaan pemotungan hewan dan hygiene daging. Institusi Jawatan Kehewanan terns berlanjut hingga era pasca proklamasi kemerdekaan dan menjelang kejatuhan Pemerintahan Orde Baru, Jawatan Kehewanan berubah menjadi Direktorat Kehewanan, berada di dalam Departemen Pertanian. Pada tahun 1966, Direktorat Jenderal Kehewanan berganti nama menjadi Direktorat Jenderal Peternakan sejalan dengan semangat waktu itu untuk mempercepat terwujudnya kesejahteraan rakyat melalui peningkatan populasi dan produksi peternakan. Di era reformasi, Direktorat Jenderal Peternakan beberapa kali berganti nama, me!ljadi Direktorat Jenderal Bina Produksi Peternakan, kemudian Direktorat Jenderal Produksi Peternakan dan kemudian kembali ke nama lama Direktorat Jenderal Petemai<:an. Pergan!i2n nama tersebut tidak membawa perubahan mendasar baik dalam visi maupun struktur organisasinya.
